F.A.R.M. Cafe is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on fighting food insecurity in Watauga County and the surrounding areas. Their mission is to serve fresh, local, nutritious food to all people, regardless of means

There are multiple ways to get a meal at F.A.R.M. Cafe. Operating on a pay-what-you-can-system, guests are given a suggested donation range for a meal. Paying within the range covers the cost of the meal, and paying over helps cover the cost of a guest who is not able to cover the cost of their meal. Guests may also exchange an hour of labor for a meal with the "Meal Exchange Program."

F.A.R.M. Cafe is different from other restaurants in that it strives to build community while serving fresh, locally sourced food. The atmosphere facilitates friendly discussion and bonding,

My involvement with F.A.R.M. Cafe has included being a volunteer, intern, and having a non-voting position on the Board of Directors. I am proud to have helped co-found and be current co-president of the F.A.R.M. Cafe Club at my university. Visit the club's Facebook page for regular updates on what we're doing!

The Children's Playhouse is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to provide children ages birth to eight with a fun and enriching play environment while giving parents and caregivers friendly support in the important job of raising children.

The Children's Playhouse is situated in a renovated house and offers indoor and outdoor educational play areas. Activities change weekly, so there is always something new to do! The Playhouse also offers classes and programs for both adults and children.

Families may purchase memberships to the place house at different levels, including one that gives access to 200 children's museums nationwide. The Children's Playhouse gives away over 25% of its memberships to low-income families and agencies providing services to children with special needs.

I am currently working with The Children's Playhouse for two class projects. For my Principles of Fundraising class, I just finished shadowing Executive Director Kathy Parham as she prepared for the Playhouse's annual BuildFest event. I have also taken over the Playhouse's Instagram account and heavily assist in managing the Twitter and Facebook accounts.
