When it comes to building community, two key elements are essential: action and compassion. With both, anything is possible.
This is a lesson that I have seen put into action daily in my community. Going to college in Boone, N.C., a rural mountain community, I have observed the impact and hard work of the various nonprofits in the region. Something special is happening here, and it is a result of these organizations coming together, building community, and spreading compassion and dignity.
The question is, how do I take my passion for
nonprofits and turn it into a career?
This blog will be a reflection of my thoughts as I venture down a path towards landing a job at a nonprofit. Topics will range from my personal professional development, exploring the art of building community, and handling the anxieties of young adulthood.
Most importantly, I will share and reflecting on my experiences in working with several local nonprofits: F.A.R.M. Cafe, The Children's Playhouse, and Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture. I am so excited to share my journey with you, and can hopefully inspire you to support a nonprofit in your community!
Warmly,
Colette
P.S.. Do you have any suggestions on a potential name for this blog?
